From amylongard.com:
My path to plant-based living was borne out of my desire to lead a healthier, more fulfilled life. Being in my mid-20’s at the time, I was compelled to make some real changes to my diet and lifestyle, and so I started experimenting with plant-based eating. Once I adopted a plant-based diet, I saw lifelong ailments disappear and experienced a sense of renewal in so many areas of my mental and physical health. This sparked an unwavering desire to not only share my story but embark on a journey into the depths of plant-based nutrition and cooking.
After a decade of working in communications, I listened to my gut feeling and left my government job to attend the Natural Gourmet Institute, a leading culinary school in New York City. What started out as a personal commitment to improving my health and well-being, quickly became a new direction for my entire life and career. Although, it didn’t end there. I wanted a more sophisticated understanding of how plants impact our health. To feed my curiosity, I attended the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition to become a registered holistic nutritionist. The more I learned, the more I was driven to inspire the masses to embrace and adopt a plant-based lifestyle.
Since then, I have been actively leading the conversation about plant-based nutrition online and at various wellness talks across North America. Through a range of initiatives, I hope to shine a light on the power of plant-based eating to heal our bodies and the planet. My intention is to educate people and help them become more conscious and connected to their food choices while reducing their carbon footprint. At the same time, I am devoted to helping them recognize how fun, enriching, and accessible a plant-based lifestyle can be. When we are connected to the food that we are eating and can take pleasure out of preparing it, we become more mindful of what we are putting into our bodies. I have reason to believe this message is gaining substantial momentum and I am wholeheartedly committed to spreading this knowledge to create a better, more health-conscious world.
